Science for the Week of April 5th
This week we'll begin the last quarter of the year with a STEM Engineering project in Science. The project is called "Designing Toy Box Organizers" and will last for the entire quarter.
Wednesday: Introduction: Defining the Problem, Part 1. Students will learn about engineering and that engineers solve all kinds of problems. We'll talk about ways students are already engineers and some of the problems they're able to solve.
Thursday: Introduction: Defining the Problem, Part 2. Engineers pose questions and obtain information about a problem that can be solved through the production of a new tool.
Friday: Henry's Map: Students will be able to use sequencing to retell main events in the story and then illustrate thoughts, ideas, and stories in a step-by-step manner.
Throughout the unit, students will use an "Engineering Design Process" chart to learn the steps engineers take to solve problems. The steps are:
Define (Problem)
Learn (Problem)
Plan (Solution)
Try (Solution)
Test (Solution)
Decide (Solution)
The students will also be working on a Science Project Experiment at home that will be presented to all of us at Together in Christ on April 21st.
